Restoring Dignity — Inaugural Wellness Drive

At Ladli Foundation Africa, we believe that no learner should ever have to miss school simply because they lack access to basic sanitary hygiene products. We are incredibly proud to share the story of our very first official distribution milestone, hosted at Johannesburg Secondary School.
This initiative was focused on two critical areas: delivering essential sanitary pads to female learners and hosting an empowering wellness and health talk to break the stigma surrounding menstrual hygiene.
Combating Period Poverty Through Education and Access
Menstrual hygiene is not just a health issue — it is an education issue. Period poverty frequently leads to school absenteeism, causing young women to fall behind academically simply due to a lack of resources. Our launch event tackled this challenge head-on:
Essential Material Support — We provided high-quality sanitary pads directly to learners, ensuring they can attend classes with confidence, dignity, and peace of mind.
Wellness & Mentorship — Alongside the distribution, our team and partners hosted an interactive wellness talk covering reproductive health, personal hygiene, self-care, and mental well-being — creating a safe, supportive space for learners to ask questions without shame.
The Power of Strategic Collaboration
An initiative of this magnitude requires a village. We were incredibly fortunate to stand shoulder-to-shoulder with a diverse coalition of corporate, medical, and civil society sponsors who share our passion for youth empowerment:
- TCTS Autobody
- Sandton Sleep and EEG Clinic
- Alternative Africa
Proudly Supported by the Department of Education
We were deeply honoured to be accompanied by officials from the Department of Education. Their presence and support endorse the necessity of our work, ensuring our wellness programs complement the national curriculum and directly serve the learners who need it most.
“Dignity is non-negotiable. By combining physical resources like sanitary pads with vital wellness education, we aren't just giving a donation — we are investing in a young person's future and academic continuity.”
The Journey Has Just Begun
While Johannesburg Secondary School marks our very first distribution, it provides a solid blueprint for what Ladli Foundation Africa plans to achieve next. We want to thank the school management, the incredible learners who engaged so openly with us, and our phenomenal partners for making this launch an unforgettable success.
